Hacía mucho tiempo que no probaba un SUV para Motorpasión, pero he de admitir que a pesar de las muchas críticas que leo entre los comentarios hacia este tipo de coches, cuando los pruebas te das cuenta de por qué casi 900 personas se han comprado un BMW X5 el año pasado.
Si, es cierto que no son ni una berlina, ni un todoterreno puro ni nada por el estilo, pero la comodidad que ofrece un SUV de este nivel frente a la mayoría de las berlinas de su segmento hacen de ellos una opción cada vez más elegida por los compradores. Vale, ahora la tendencia es hacia SUV más pequeños, pero ¿por qué no comprarte un X5 si puedes permitírtelo?
Valoración general El BMW X5 40d xDrive es un coche muy apropiado para aquellos que buscan espacio, confort y unas prestaciones muy buenas para viajar en carretera. En ciudad también se comporta de maravilla, siempre y cuando tengamos en cuenta que su tamaño no lo hace manejable para cualquiera.
Es más, en una carretera de curvas con buen firme, te lo puedes pasar realmente bien al volante de este mastodonte de más de dos toneladas de peso. Y gracias a su potente motor de 306 caballos, a los 600 Nm y al cambio de ocho velocidades, podrás mantener el tipo a muchos coches deportivos.
No olvidemos que hace 0 a 100 km/h en solo 6,6 segundos. ¿Cuantos coches pueden bajar esa cifra? Muy pocos manteniendo un consumo de menos de 8 l/100 km de media y pudiendo llevar dentro a siete pasajeros (pagando en opción la tercera fila de asientos).
Es cierto que denota algunos detalles, como la ausencia de start/stop o el sonido del motor demasiado patente en el habitáculo que indican que no es un SUV de última generación. Lo mismo ocurre con el peso, un tanto alto para los SUV de hoy en día, pero si no fuese por esos pequeños detalles, el X5 seguiría estando en la flor de la vida. De hecho, creo que le queda vida para rato.

A favor: estética clásica, capacidad interior, prestaciones del motor, comportamiento del cambio, posición de conducción, confort, practicidad.
En contra: sonido del motor, peso elevado, ausencia de sistemas de última generación, opciones caras.
