En pleno apogeo de los modelos SUV, hay marcas de coches que por suerte todavía apuestan por mantener en su gama algún que otro modelo 4×4 de verdad, como el Toyota Land Cruiser en el caso de la marca nipona. El todoterreno por excelencia de Toyota, que se lleva fabricando desde 1951, recibe ahora un ligero lavado de cara y una puesta al día.
Estéticamente los cambios son evidentes. Hay que destacar unas nuevas ópticas delanteras con luces led integradas, la prominente y agresiva parrilla delantera está más acorde con los gustos norteamericanos. En la trasera más de lo mismo, unas ópticas de diseño vertical marcan su estilo, que sigue siendo inconfundiblemente muy Land Cruiser.
En el interior se han mejorado algunos materiales, los mandos de manejo tanto de la electrónica como de algunos elementos mecánicos del sistema 4×4, y también se ha tratado de mejorar el confort de las dos filas de asientos traseras.
Aunque por el momento no sabemos si Toyota tiene intención de seguir venidéndolo en España, hay que destacar que en el resto de mercados europeos seguirá estando a la venta con dos motores. Por un lado en gasolina habrá V6 4.0 de 282 caballos y 385 Nm de par con el que acelera hasta 100 km/h en 10,9 segundos y alcanzar 180 km/h de punta.
En diesel la opción disponible es un motor tres litros de 190 caballos y 420 Nm de par con el que hace el 0 a 100 km/h en 10,2 segundos y alcanza 175 km/h.
