En el inminente Salón de Frankfurt Bentley presentará los Continental GT V8 S en versión Coupé y Convertible, una pequeña actualización del lujoso superdeportivo que ahora desarrolla 528 CV y 680 Nm de par a solo 1.700 revoluciones.
El motor sigue siendo en estas versiones S el mismo V8 de 4 litros y doble turbocompresor que montan el resto de Continental GT, pero en este caso se ha modificado también la suspensión que rebaja ahora la altura de la carrocería, así como el tacto de la dirección y se han añadido algunos detalles que delatan que estamos ante un S.
Las prestaciones siguen siendo realmente impresionantes. Hace algunos años tuve la suerte de conducir durante unos kilómetros un Bentley Flying Speed Spur y os aseguro que en mi vida he probado pocos coches que impresionen tanto en aceleración.

Las prestaciones de los Continental GT V8 S, son espectaculares. El Coupé hace 0 a 100 km/h en tan solo 4,5 segundos y alcanza una punta de 309 km/h. La versión descapotable por su parte, tarda solo dos décimas más en el 0 a 100 km/h y la velocidad punta se queda un kilómetros por hora por debajo, una diferencia casi inapreciable.
Con un consumo medio declarado de 10,6 l/100 km para el Coupé y 10,9 l/100 km para el Convertible, los Continental GT V8 S tienen una autonomía superior a los 800 kilómetros, un dato muy a tener en cuenta porque en este coche los viajes largos son una constante.
Las suspensiones son más deportivas y hacen que la carrocería esté 10 mm más baja. Además tienen una mayor rigidez elástica de los muelles de la suspensión (45 % en los delanteros, 33 % en los traseros) para mejorar las sensaciones deportivas al volante.

Estos modelos incorporan además un nuevo sistema de control de tracción que permite a las ruedas derrapar ligeramente, lo cual mejora las sensaciones en conducción deportiva. Por supuesto, sigue contando con tracción a las cuatro ruedas.
Por último, hay que hablar del Lower Body Styling Specification. Básicamente se trata del faldón delantero, estribos laterales y difusor trasero diseñados para mejorar la aerodinámica y pegar la carrocería al asfalto a velocidades altas.
Los Continental GT V8 S Coupé y Convertible estarán a la venta a partir de comienzos de 2014.
