http://img.motorpasion.com/2014/01/vw-polo-2014-1.jpg Ahora que se ha desvelado el aspecto del Volkswagen Polo 2014 (http://www.motorpasion.com/volkswagen/volkswagen-polo-2014-primeras-imagenes-oficiales), la marca hará algo poco habitual, que es desarrollar motorizaciones alternativas en un modelo a mitad de vida comercial. Recordemos que el Polo actual usa la plataforma PQ25 y no la novísima MQB con soporte para futuros desarrollos.
Se está trabajando en un híbrido enchufable, algo inédito en el segmento B, probablemente con un motor de gasolina y autonomía eléctrica en torno a 20-30 kilómetros. No se trata de la misma tecnología que veremos en el Golf GTE (http://www.motorpasionfuturo.com/coches-hibridos/el-volkswagen-golf-hibrido-enchufable-se-llamara-gte), ya que el Golf funciona con la nueva plataforma.
Por otro lado, se está poniendo a punto una versión de gas natural comprimido (GNC), ahora que VAG apuesta por este combustible más que por el GLP. Ya tenemos el precedente del Golf TGI Bluemotion y del Leon TGI (http://www.motorpasion.com/compactos/seat-leon-1-6-tdi-ecomotive-y-seat-leon-tgi), que usan gas natural en el motor 1.4 TSI. Antes de ellos estuvo el Passat 1.4 TSI Ecofuel (http://www.motorpasion.com/volkswagen/mas-limpieza-en-volkswagen-passat-tsi-ecofuel-y-passat-cc-bluetdi).
Las ventajas de estas dos tecnologías son evidentes: menor coste por kilómetro, algo importante en este segmento. Pero no menos importante es el precio, Volkswagen no gana mucho dinero que digamos con el Polo, a pesar de su volumen, y hablamos de motorizaciones que implican un sobrecoste notable.
