A pesar de que el Lexus IS ha tenido algunos cambios en su equipamiento desde su aparición en 2005, hasta el momento no ha habido cambios significativos. El próximo mes se presentará el Lexus IS 2011 (http://www.motorpasion.com/lexus/nueva-gama-lexus-is-2011), en la que destaca sobre todo la aparición de un motor diésel de 150 CV que lo hará más asequible.
De hecho, como hemos visto, la mayor pega del Lexus IS 250 es su motor, un V6 atmosférico en peligro de extinción. Por mucho que la gasolina sea el combustible de los sentimientos hay que admitir que el 200d y el 220 son opciones más cabales a la hora de comprar una berlina, aunque ésta sea premium.

Valoración general del Lexus IS 250
Lexus, marca premium de Toyota, tiene mucha menos historia a sus espaldas que BMW, Audi o Mercedes. Nació en Estados Unidos en 1989. Con todo ha conseguido hacer de su defecto una virtud: no es más exclusivo que las alemanas por su precio, sino porque es menos vendida.
En un mundo, el de los coches, donde hace tiempo que los coches de 50.000 euros son premium y no de lujo, Lexus todavía mantiene parte de ese encanto. Es algo más llamativo que sus rivales germanos, con todo cumple con ser un coche discreto.
En este acabado y con el V6, adecuado para quienes valoren la calidad de los materiales por encima de tener un motor con siglas (¿en qué momento las letras empezaron a tener más importancia que los números en los motores?). En el caso del diésel posiblemente la diferencia sea menor.
Otro detalle importante a tener en cuenta es su diseño: no sólo tiene cinco años sino que además posiblemente envejezca antes que sus rivales. Cuestión de diseño japonés o cuestión cultural, pero un hecho a ojos de los europeos.
